Assembly store in Frome, Somerset is located in one of the most exciting shopping streets in the UK. Renowned for it's local market, the weekends can see the streets of Frome flooded with residents and visitors searching for their next purchase be that a load of artisanal bread of a high-end pair of boots.
We caught up with Anthony who owns Assembly to learn a little more about him and his store...
How long has your store been operating and what did you do before opening the store?
We're approaching our 7th Birthday at the start of December, I can’t believe it's been that long. Before Assembly and after studying Fashion Design at the University of Westminster I spent several years working for Red or Dead then Sefton, a menswear and womenswear independent in London along side my own wedding dress-making business.
After moving West I managed two very well established high street stores. The idea of opening something of my own as the retail world changed became a reality.
So off I went!
How would you describe your store’s style?
Relaxed, edited, British-designed and manufacture-led with a classic continental twist.
What are your favourites pieces from current stock?
This season for me has been about moving forward and growing up a little, so the collection has taken on a more simplistic edge. I would say my favourites pieces would be the Kestin Hare faux sheepskin nylon short parka and the Peregrine khaki Arran knit.
Can you recommend 3 of your favourite places in your local area that we should visit?
Palmer Street Bottle Shop for local and country wide craft beer and cheese, Moo and Two for coffee in the morning and Ramshack Barber for sorting my beard.
What's your favourite Filmore product and why?
The F-4 Eye Gel because it really works!
What product, either skincare, lifestyle or otherwise would you like to see Filmore create in the future?
A really hard-core weekly face scrub, a scent and maybe a candle.
